About time in New York
New York runs on Eastern Time, the reference clock for US financial markets — the NYSE opening bell at 9:30am Eastern is why so much of the world's scheduling bends around this zone. It changes clocks twice a year, moving to Eastern Daylight Time on the second Sunday in March and back on the first Sunday in November. Because the US and the EU switch on different dates, New York's gap to London is briefly four hours instead of five, twice a year.
