Sydney observes daylight saving on the southern hemisphere's inverted schedule, moving forward in October and back in April — the opposite of Europe and North America. That means the gap between Sydney and London swings by two hours across the year, and for a few weeks each spring and autumn it lands on a value it holds at no other time. Not all of Australia participates: Queensland and Western Australia stay on standard time.
